My dear aunt called me this weekend suggesting I incorporate ginger in my line of products. She was having some pain in her leg, possibly from inflammation, and at a suggestion from a friend decided to infuse ginger into oil and rub the oil on her leg. A week later, the pain is gone and she swears by it and I believe her. I have briefly considered the use of ginger in the past but since her phone call, I've decided to revisit this root and it's beauty benefits. Here are a few good beauty uses for ginger to try.
- Hypopigmentation
Hypopigmentation is the loss of color on the skin often appearing as white spots on the skin. Ginger can reduce the appearance of white spots significantly by slicing a sliver of fresh ginger and dabbing it on the area. You can do this several times a day but you have to be consistent and do it over a long period of time.
- Helps fight acne
Ginger has anti-inflammatory & antibacterial properties that help kills the bacteria that causes acne and soothe the skin. I've read to dab the juice squeezed from the ginger on your blemishes but I think you should use at your own discretion as ginger is very potent.
- Anti-aging
Fight aging from the inside out by drinking or eating ginger. Ginger is chock full of antioxidants which helps fights skin-damaging free radicals and can help promote a brighter, firmer, more youthful appearance
- Cleanse and Detox
Taking a ginger bath is a great way to sweat out the toxins and cleanse the body & skin. Add 1/3 cup of fresh grated or powdered ginger in a hot bath and soak for 30 minutes. Keep a bottle of water near by as you will sweat profusely and it will get hot. After 30 minutes, wrap yourself in a towel and robe and lay down. You will continue to sweat for another hour. You will have the most relaxing night sleep and wake up feeling rejuvenated.
